This is an op-ed by Aleks Svetski, author of “The UnCommunist Manifesto”, founder of bitcoin time and host of the “Wake Up Podcast with Svetski”.
I just got back from incline sprints and barbell burpees, at 1:30 p.m. in 103-degree Texas heat, listening to “Through the Fire,” “Push it to the Limit,” and “Eye of the Tiger.” Oh…and I’m fasting.
Irrational? Yes. Abso-damn-lutely.
When the fiat establishment thinks it is dealing with “rational” individuals in Bitcoin, it is deeply mistaken.
When they think that “those Bitcoiners” are just going to be shaken out of the system because of the exchange rate between it and some government-mandated shitcoins, then clearly they’ve never watched this movie before.
We have been here before. None of this is new.
There is no surrender. There is no version of this story where real Bitcoiners decide to “sell their bitcoin”.
This shit is locked up. Forever, Laura. Still.
What these moments do, however, is forge the next set of Bitcoiners who have the conviction, courage, and character to push the idea forward.
We have an unlimited supply of troops that will continue to come to Bitcoin over time because the alternative is either government and central bank Ponzi schemes or digital and crypto Ponzi schemes.
There is no safe place to park your work product. There’s no realm of integrity where the rules aren’t changed by a cabal of morons who think they can outrun gravity.
Bitcoin is the only option, and as they try to financially engineer bombs to drop in the markets, we are getting stronger. We “fight in the shade.”
Time is on our side. This is a very rare thing, because empires and centrally planned or owned institutions are always fighting.
Size
Nothing great has ever been built by the obedient and fearful masses.
No great betrayal has ever been stopped by conformity and submission.
There is no glory in retreat, nor in surrender.
Think about it.
- Alexander The Great.
- Jesus Christ.
- William Wallace.
- America’s Founding Fathers.
- Leonidas and The 300.
You think they didn’t want to give up at some point? You think they didn’t want to throw in the towel? You think they got it “easy”?
Do you think that when Alexander was harpooned during the siege, he could have turned around and gone home? Or how about the crucification of Jesus? He could have simply “repented” and renounced God (Truth).
They did not do it.
William Wallace only had to whisper “mercy”, while being disemboweled, and maybe the pain would stop. Instead, with his dying breath, he shouts, “Freedom!”
The Founding Fathers and Leonidas could have surrendered and done the deal, but instead they said “Come and take it.”
Come and take it.
None of them retreated.
They charged, they advanced, they held on, despite everything.
This is the same energy that real Bitcoiners possess.
They locked him up and will never back down (pun intended).
This is what it means to be a member of The Remnant.
If you are still there, then by definition you stay. You are The Rest.
The 20% that make the difference. The 20% that matters.
know your enemy
Remember why you are here.
I’m 100% aware that I could have sold some up and then bought more now, but that’s not my game anymore.
- It’s usually too difficult to do and requires a level of dedication, insight, luck, and timing that few on the planet possess. I am not one of them.
- (Orders of magnitude larger than #1)…Why the hell would I take profits on toilet paper, just so I can give 30-50% to the enemy? Are you crazy? You think I’m here to “get rich”? You think it’s about “buying a lambo”? No. I’m here to watch the empire of lies crumble. What remains is a foundation on which we can build a civilization of truth.
The underdog always has the advantage because he has nothing to lose.
Add to that the fact that you have a whole army of people on both sides of the bell curve (no one in the middle of the curve really gets into Bitcoin), and you have a relentless baseline of holders who are willing to go down with the ship if that’s what it means.
This level of belief is not in their models.
Our advantage is our irrational optimism. No matter how low, no matter how ridiculous, no matter how long the timescale, no matter how painful the exchange rate, we are never fucking sale.
If the establishment wants to play chicken, then do it.
You’re going to fuck up and find out, that’s for sure.
We’ll see who the real Brinksmen are.
contrapliant
I recently discovered a note from PabloF7Z.
contrapliant. I’m not even sure it’s a word in English, but since we’re always making up words, I claim it. As you can see, this means the opposite of “compliant”.
The way I like to think of it is: “actively non-compliant”.
To me, that’s the definition of life. Entropy is the status quo and life seems to be what defies entropy. We don’t understand why, or how, but it does.
Example: coming back from my race, I saw this and had to take a picture:
Just like nature, Bitcoin is counterproductive.
They are both alive, and what is alive will always find a way.
Bitcoin and Bitcoiners will never surrender. We will never give up.
We are irrationally optimistic about the future, because as I have said many times, a world without bitcoin, where we own nothing, have no privacy and are high on antidepressants is not a world worth living in.
Let this moment serve you. Let the flames burn away all that is unnecessary. What’s left is the real you, just with thicker skin, greater conviction, a higher degree of courage, and a character worthy of leading.
You will think back to that moment and remember what it meant to earn your stripes, and it will give you what you need to sustain the great FU energy that makes all the difference.
Become contrapliant, young bitcoin padawan.
Now is your time.
Now go buy some cheap bitcoin and listen to this playlist: Svetsky bear market music
